    What's special

1978 listed National Register of Historic Places home built 1851. Restored with standing seam metal roofs over entire home & porches. New 200 amp service installed in 1975 & new breaker box installed in 2014. All new plumbing 1974. Computer controlled, 9 zone, oil, hot water furnace. Main house brick paint was chemically removed, bricks were neutralized & repointed. Lot completely enclosed by custom designed wooden picket fence. All 4 fireplaces & flues were professionally lined with firebrick & rebuilt, 3 are wood burning with dampers, the 4th is the furnace flue. All first floor rooms of main house that face onto front porch have floor to ceiling windows. Porch has curved wooden moulding with a pinwheel design between the pillars. Double door front entrance into center hallway has stained glass transom window with house number custom made & installed in 1975. All the first floor rooms in main house have plaster walls, 14' ceilings, random width, yellow pine floors & interior, louvered wood shutters. Main house windows raise & lower with internal window weights. Banister & railings are solid walnut. Living room has black, italian marble fireplace surround & mantle, faced with black & pink eisenglass (its flu is used to vent the furnace). Library has architect designed, custom built book shelves. Next to the library is a sitting area with another black, italian marble fireplace surround & mantle. Behind this room is entrance arch that matches the pin wheel design between the porch pillars & opens into the bay area which is used as a formal dining room with modern installed crystal chandelier. Through center hall to rear of main house, is original 2 story frame addition to the home, the 1st floor was the first kitchen with a wood burning, brick cooking fireplace. This room now used as informal dining room. There's an architect designed addition on the West side of this room, with full bath, laundry area & sunroom. Behind informal dining room is the new kitchen, with custom designed, glass front cherry upper & solid cherry lower cabinets. Custom made, matching glass front, cherry cabinets were added in the dead space between the cabinets & the ceiling in 2009. A new breakfast room with 2 custom made bay windows was added to the rear of the kitchen in 1974, with french doors opening onto an oval brick patio. 2nd floor has 4 bedrooms. Master bedroom has a separate, large nursery (or 3rd bedroom) to the rear of it, & 2 bedrooms across the hall. Custom designed & installed Interior lead glass window opens onto staircase landing. The 2nd floor, full bath is over the original kitchen. All closets throughout the home were cedar lined in 1999. Basement was originally earth & was dug down 2 feet in 1974 to give 7' head room. Basement walls are 3' thick mixed limestone & sandstone, that were stripped of stucco & repointed in 1975. In the room under the first floor library, sitting & bay rooms are the law office & conference room/library, which has a working, wood burning fireplace & an exit stairwell to the side porch. All basement main supporting beams have steel jack posts installed to support the upper structure. The original basement wall was cut through so that the earth below the new addition and the entire rear of the home could be dug out & removed, creating a recreation room, closet, hallway, full kitchen, pantry & full bathroom with a steam shower. Next to the bathroom is a storage closet & a covered exit stairwell to the side yard. The structure above the excavated basement area is supported by I beams recommended by a structural engineer. The tool shed in the side yard was custom made to resemble the main house. The 2 tallest trees in the yard have lightning rods that were professionally installed in 2015. All the trees on the property have been professionally maintained.
