    What's special

small 1 1/2 story cape cod on s detroit ave. There is traffic noise when windows are open but none if you are in the back yard or are using central air system. There are hardwood floors under the carpeting but they need to be sanded. a do it yourself type project. Carpet needs to be replaced anyway. Upstairs is vinyl and only needs a good mopping. Basement walls are cracked and leaking. I usually sweep the water down the basement drain with a broom and then run the dehumidifier and that does the trick. I will never repair these walls because I know they are substantial enough to carry the weight of the house for my lifetime. I wold consider repairing them for a buyer but would add the finished cost on to the selling price and there would have to be a binding contract and a deposit before i would do so. Neighborhood Description All of the small merchants have moved out. You need a car for every member of the family old enough to drive since you can not walk to any convience stores, theaters, drug stores, restaurants, etc. My guess is the neighborhood is falling on hard times since all small business is leaving and so is all LARGE business. I know in my case that the house next door is a section 8 or catholic charities rental. There are many homes in beverly that have been on the market for more than a year.
