What the owner loves about this home
People often ask what I've loved most about living here. The truth is, it's never been just one thing. This little farm has given me more than a home—it has given me a lifetime of memories, a connection to the land, and an appreciation for the simple things that matter most. I love waking to the morning sun streaming through the kitchen window and neighbors stopping by to share their news, turning ordinary conversations into lasting friendships. Every walk around the trail reminds me that no two seasons are ever the same. This old house has a quiet strength. For more than 150 years it has stood through changing seasons and generations. The worn wooden doors and original hardware tell the story of those who came before. Caring for this home has always felt less like ownership and more like being entrusted with its history. Some of my most treasured memories were made in the old barn—cold winter mornings milking the cow and feeding the chickens, standing beside a cow as she gave birth, watching a young calf learn to drink from a pail, and discovering newborn kittens tucked safely into the hay. The land has offered its own gifts. Growing a garden, filling the basement shelves with jars from the harvest, canoeing the Allegheny River, riding the nearby bike trails, and watching deer, foxes, wild turkeys, and even the occasional bald eagle have made every season special. Summer evenings belong to the fireflies and the song of the whip-poor-will, while winter brings sledding, snowy walks, and evenings beside a crackling fire. Leaving this home is far more difficult than I ever imagined. Every room, tree, path, and field holds a memory. My hope is that the next owners will love and care for this little farm as deeply as I have and create memories of their own while writing the next chapter of its story.
