I was a lady of the turn of the century, built at the height of the Victorian Age. What a beautiful young thing I was, an new home built in the first subdivision of Winchester. I was built by a well known building contractor that built many homes during the early part of the 20th century. I matured over the years; I have seen many dawns and many sunsets (I prefer sunsets) and I grew older through rain, wind, storms, snows, and blistering heat. I have also seen many fine autumns and splendid springs. I was home to several different families, some reverent and some not so reverent of me. Fifty odd years ago I was purchased as a money-making scheme; I was to be added on to, carved up and rented as several small apartments. Little was done for me during that period as profits were all-important. I became an eyesore to my neighbors and my friends felt sorry for me. But I could do nothing. I was a house. And then a miracle happened. A lady who lived nearby bought me and I got a much needed makeover. She analyzed my best features and decided to return me to my former glory. She ripped off my addition, completely gutted me to the studs and rebuilt me on my former footprint. I got new plumbing and wiring, a new central air and heating system, new easy tilt windows throughout, new roof, new hardwood floors, new sheetrock painted a beautiful mocha, new fixtures for my ten foot ceilings throughout, new custom kitchen cabinets, new granite countertops, new black appliances, a new bathroom and all new bathroom fixtures. Did I mention all the closet and storage space I have? A new cement drive was added for my new owners with plenty of room for guests to park. I got a complete landscaping of low maintenance shrubs and perennials, which looks great next to my new hardyboard siding. I have wonderful yard for gardening and play. I have a disappearing staircase which goes to a large completely floored attic, ready for completion for upstairs bedrooms or just storage. My floor plan is wonderful for entertaining, with pocket doors between the spacious dining and living room. I am now the grand old lady, born in 1906, but 2012 in all my amenities. I would be perfect for a small family, a great retirement home, or a s wonderful getaway for city folks wanting a weekend home with access to Tim Ford Lade, Bear Trace Golf, and great hiking, without the heafty lake taxes. My cement drive will easily house a boat and trailer. You need to see me or call at 931-308-8554. I love my new look and lease on life.
