    What's special

Situated on two protected acres within walking distance to Taos Plaza, in-town galleries, restaurants, and boutique shops, this high-walled compound built around a shaded courtyard will take you back to Taos as it was a century ago. Originally built by the Tafoya family, with later additions by the Feights in the 1930s, this secluded old adobe home dates back to 1900. A main driveway leads from Cordoba Lane through the gated entrance to a circular drive which loops around into a large attached carport. From the central courtyard, you can access the main home or the guest house with garage, storage, and studio space. Altogether, the property offers 3,606 square feet of living area. The main house offers three en suite bedrooms and a guest bathroom, a sunroom with original wall art by local Taos artist Jim Wagner, and skylights throughout. There is access to covered portals from almost every room in the house to enhance the indoor-outdoor livability of the home. The living room, with wood-beamed ceilings, Saltillo tile floor, and a gracious fireplace, is the center of this comfortable home. A library located just off the living room through French doors has plenty of built-in shelving and exterior access to the south-facing covered patio. Beyond the library is the master suite with a large walk-in closet, Saltillo tile floors, whitewashed wood ceilings, and recently updated master bathroom. In addition, there is an office area with an exterior door that leads to the east- and south-facing covered patios. The second and third en suite bedrooms are accessed through a small hallway off of the living room. The third bedroom has a small bonus room that could be used as a sitting room or dressing area. This bedroom also has an exterior door which leads out onto the west-facing covered patio area. The newly appointed gourmet kitchen offers plentiful storage, new high-end appliances, a bright skylight, vintage hand-hewn wood beamed ceiling, Saltillo tile floors, new granite countertops, and gorgeous mahogany cabinets. From the kitchen, there is easy access to the very large carport. Across the courtyard is a second building comprising the garage, guest apartment, and storage. Upstairs, you will find a 956 sq ft one-bedroom guest apartment with full living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and deck offering lovely views to the north and east. The massive structural beams in the guest apartment were beautifully hand-carved by Loch Feight. Below are two single-car garages (totaling 725 sq ft), a studio (395 sq ft), and a Bodega (600 sq ft) with multi-paned windows typical of the period. This area could be used for storage, as a greenhouse, or as an additional studio. An additional room abutting the garages (510 sq ft) could serve as your wine cellar or game room. At the center of the adobe-walled compound is a large courtyard appointed with an elegant, functioning old-world water fountain, small deck, and outdoor kiva fireplace. Other special features include extensive built-in bancos, heavy carved Mexican doors and gates, hand forged wrought iron accents, nichos for firewood, covered portals facing in almost every direction, and a large, old shade tree. The park-like grounds surrounding the compound are peppered with mature weeping willow, Russian olive, aspen, and cottonwood trees. Even though you are right in town, the setting offers stunning views and complete privacy. The property is on town water and sewer. In addition, there are four historical wells present on the property which could possibly be re-worked. Given that it is zoned R4, there is much flexibility with respect to how the home and grounds could be further developed by its new owner. Two private acres featuring an historic adobe courtyard home in town is a rare find. Don't miss the opportunity to view this unique Taos property. For more check out www.bit.ly/cordobalane
