Spectacular, beautiful mountain / plateau property located about 20 minutes southeast of Sparta, TN (drive time) in White County, TN. For sale by owner. I have lowered the price substantially because I bought another parcel elsewhere. Ideal home or recreation property if you enjoy caving, hiking, backpacking, climbing, kayaking, fishing, and/or hunting. There are numerous level locations on the property for a home or cabin - the best views are at higher elevations. Entrance to the property is from Lost Creek Road across flat pasture. This strip of property is about 1750 feet long and 50 feet wide. Elevation of the property ranges from about 1300 in bottom pasture to 1750 feet at top of mountain. With exception of entry area, the property is completely forested. This area is private and relatively secluded. The area is quiet without noise pollution. This area is dark at night and affords views of the Milky Way on low moon nights. The views are incredible and natural areas located east and northeast of the property (see natural area map) assure that these views will remain undeveloped. A few photos of these natural areas are included for reference. Dog Cove is walking distance from the property and other natural areas are short drives. The property has two small springs that feed a small stream / creek along the west margin of the property. A small waterfall (Waterfall 1) is situated along this stream. Another small waterfall (Waterfall 2) is located just east of the property at a higher elevation. The upper elevations of the property (brow areas) include a small sandstone bluff and numerous sandstone rock formations. The vast majority of the property is underlain by thick sandstone. In addition to Mountain Laurel, I have observed wild blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries on top of the mountain. The flat areas on top of the mountain are likely the best locations for that dream home / cabin. The lower elevation of the property is underlain by Bangor limestone and two sinkholes are developed in this formation. There is potential for cave (or caves) at the sinkhole locations. This area is well known for its numerous and extensive caves. Most of property is underlain by sandstone several hundred feet thick. A water line and electricity extend along Lost Creek and White's Cave Roads. Hence, off-grid living is not required for this property. The property is currently assigned as greenbelt and property taxes for White County are $117 per year. The property is fenced and gated. If you wish to access the property, please contact me. Realtor calls will not be returned.
