    What's special

42 Westshore Drive, Newport WA, 99156. 1.48 acres with 163' of Pend Oreille River waterfront. Originally named Glen Coe in the 1800's after the Glen Coe Highlands in Scotland for it's rolling hills and river views. Renamed Dalkena in the 1890's when two men by the names of Dalton and Kennedy combined their names and formed the Dalkena Lumber Mill. In the 1930's the mill was known for producing the most board feet of lumber in the entire United States. The second of two fires in 1939 forced the mill to close. It's share holders moved into developing Farragut State Park in Idaho. The only visible structures left from the once thriving lumber town of Dalkena are the 8,000.00 sq. ft. barn, which held the draft horses, remnants of the planer foundation, and the ruins of the old chip burner most locals call "the castle". 1.63 ac., 163' of waterfront, 180° views of the Pend Oreille River and over 55 miles of boating river water. Approved proposed septic and well sites. A private setting as bordering properties should remain undeveloped. Please note this property borders, but does NOT include "the castle".
