Private room available near Temescal in Oakland - Great for grad students Hi there! I'm seeking a new housemate available to move into a sunshine-filled bedroom in Oakland on or around Sept. 1. The rent $1,247.50 ($2,495 total, split down the middle between us). The apartment is a 700 sqft, 2 bed/1 bath on Market St in the Longfellow neighborhood, just west of Temescal. This is a super-convenient location -- It's 13-minute walk/two-minute drive from MacArthur BART, and there are parking spots in the back (the entire 4-unit building, including the parking lot, is surrounded by a fence). Additionally, the AC Transit 88 and the F transbay bus lines both stop right outside, making it very easy to get to UC Berkeley, or to downtown San Francisco/Oakland/Berkeley. Other amenities: - The bedroom is currently unfurnished (but if that's a deal-breaker for you, I can quickly furnish it -- Your choice!) - In-unit washer/dryer. - In-unit dishwasher. - Carport in the back of the fenced-in location. - Wood floors in all rooms except the kitchen and bathroom, which are tiled. - The house faces east/west and there are lots of windows, so it gets great light during sunrise and sunset (You can actually get a glimpse of Mt. Tam from one of the windows). Since the light is good, I also grow cacti on the landing, and I have grown hot peppers in pots out there before, too -- If you are hyped about raised beds for a small vegetable garden, I could fully get on board. - Temescal is a few minutes away, so the spot is very close to plenty of bars, restaurants, and cool shops. - Trash pickup included. We are responsible for water, electricity, and internet. Extra info: - No pets, please; I have two (very chill) cats who love new humans but who are skittish around new four-legged friends. - All common spaces (living room/dining nook, kitchen, bathroom) are already furnished, so there is no need for more furniture or anything like that. - My current housemate is great and I hate to see him leave, but he's got an awesome opportunity and is relocating, and I wish him all the best! If you want to talk to him/previous housemates about living with me, that's an option, too. More about me: I'm a mid-30s guy currently working for a company that helps college students find their first full-time jobs out of school. I've been in Oakland for a decade, and I start a masters program in psychology this fall in the East Bay, with the ultimate goal of becoming a therapist. For fun, I enjoy reading, cooking, hosting an occasional movie night with a small group of friends, and camping/backpacking. I can't wait to meet ya! No smoking allowed inside
