This church was built in 1924 to replace the original church that was destroyed in the 1924 tornado that did tremendous damage to the city of Lorain. Today it is still a very attractive building that has been pretty well maintained. The boiler, that is the source of heat, was replaced about ten years ago. The electric service panel was replaced two years ago. The old system was the original panel installed in 1924. The footprint includes a finished basement that includes a great institutional kitchen, a social hall that has many possible uses, some office space and two parlors that are carpeted and furnished and useful for meetings and classes. The main floor includes the Sanctuary with a large balcony that seats overflow crowds, a pipe organ that needs repair, offices and classrooms. The third floor contains only the gymnasium, the choir loft and the seating balcony. Yes it is small by today's basketball requirements, but it is still a facility that has been used wisely by the church for their day care program and their preschool classes, neither in operation today.
