    What's special

This uniquely uncommon house, taking three years to build by contractors from Europe, has been owned by only one family since the original owners, George and Lillian Rehley moved in. The blonde brick, three story, clay tile roofed structure was a wedding gift to Lillian from her husband. The house was the only one on the block, back in 1926. Entering from the front, on the north/south sides of the patio are two removable cathedral-style windows secured with wrought-iron bars, set to protect the guests from the wind. The brass mailbox is deep and covered on the inside by an oak cover with a knob. There are arched storm and screen inserts for the huge front door. The entry area has a hand laid porcelain tiled floor designed with multiple tones of muted color. A marble step-up to a beveled glass, 15 paned interior door leads you in .Once in the house, you have four choices: to go upstairs, to enter the parlor, to proceed to the kitchen, or stop into the adorable half-bath containing the original seafoam green fixtures, still in working order. The floor has hand laid ceramic tiles. The basket weave black/white pattern was employed. Black porcelain wall board tiles set off the floor. A crank out window faces south. All outdoor windows have been upgraded in 2017 to insure the tightest fit. Fifty Paradigm windows were purchased for $50,000.00. The parlor has a new gas fireplace insert, within a blonde brick façade. A beveled glass door allowing passage to an enclosed sunroom lets extra light into the living room. Eight sets of new crank out windows surround the sunroom on all sides. The original curtain rods with centerpieces and finials adorn every room. An Australian crystal cut chandelier centers the ceilings with matching wall sconces having a mirrored back engraved piece, set in a brass decorative fixture. The excellent travel flow pattern leads to the kitchen. A second entry to the kitchen is from the rear of the home either from directly out-of-doors, or from the garage with stairs and hallway up into the kitchen or down into the basement. A new corner gas insert, 2018, has been purchased to insure a cozy atmosphere and warmth. The new three sections of kitchen windows, above the farm-style sink looks to the south from the inside. An additional window is situated about a radiator where one can relax for a cup of tea. All appliances are new, white, GE products, including stove, microwave and refrigerator. The oak floor has been refinished and all walls have been repainted using a tri-color schematic. A walk-in pantry serves to store essentials with over-head light. A new wrought-iron leaf motif ceiling fan, lights the kitchen while dispersing the heat. The new and original lighting fixtures are styled to match the décor. New oak shelfing the basement. New oak shelfing adds a handy dimension over the range for easy reach to cookware. The antique pastry table serves as a place to store flatware and dish towels. An additional frosted paned glass door, separates the kitchen from the back hallway keeping drafts to a minimum.
