    One bedroom basement apartment for rent in a historic house (1800s) on a beautiful, well-maintained block of Elm Street in the Mansion neighborhood. The apartment has six rooms (living room, dining room, two bedrooms, bathroom, and large kitchen). We are listing this as a one-bedroom apartment because the bedrooms are small, but the second one can be perfect for an office, hobbies, TV room, extra storage space, etc. The bedrooms are large enough to fit a queen or king-size bed. Hardwood floors, built-in china closet, pretty tile kitchen counter, ceramic tile bathroom floor and shower/tub walls, brand new gas stove, large walk-in closet. Access to a shared garden behind the house which you are welcome to use. Very responsible and responsive landlords live next door. $775 a month. Lease and security deposit. Heat and electricity are not included. Landlord pays the water bill. Past tenants have said utilities (gas and electricity) typically run $80 in the summer, $150 to $200 in the coldest part of the winter. Blocks from the Empire State Plaza, the Capitol, the State Museum, and downtown, and a few minutes from 787. An easy walk to Lark Street/Center Square. One block from the Governor's Mansion, and the bus line to SUNY Albany/University at Albany. Great walking, jogging, and running around nearby Lincoln Park and the Empire State Plaza. The Mansion neighborhood is similar to Center Square (pretty, historic houses, downtown living), but more residential (less noise from bars, etc.), and rents are considerably lower. Come take a look -- you may be pleasantly surprised! It's easy for renters to get a parking permit ($20/year) for unlimited parking in the neighborhood. There are also often parking lot spaces and garage spaces available for rent by individual neighbors. There is free parking a block away nights and weekends in the state garage at Madison & Philip Streets. One or two neutered cats are welcome with pet deposit. We generally do not rent to tenants with dogs, but will occasionally make an exception for a single, unusually well-behaved adult dog with references. Sorry, we're not able to consider pit bulls. Sorry, no smokers. (Not OK to smoke inside or outside.) We conduct thorough credit, employment, and background checks. Sorry, we're not able to accept Section 8/DSS. Available immediately. Feb. 1.
