    What's special

Ideally located, the home sits on the dividing line between the town's commercial and residential zones. Stroll in one direction and you're on Washington Street. Stroll in another and you're passing homes in the historic district. The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine is just around the corner and down the street, and the General Lewis Inn only two blocks away. Historic log home in downtown Lewisburg, repurposed for contemporary living. High ceilings, stone chimney and hearth, and two-bedroom suites. This 1780 pioneer log cabin was relocated from northern Greenbrier County in the 1970's and creatively updated. Charming and quaint, this one-of-a-kind residence is a stone's throw from Washington Street, within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops and entertainment, and it is zoned for residential or business purposes. Features include a separate office/studio overlooking Montwell Commons. Tucked behind Lewisburg's Post Office and United Methodist Church and near the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, this log home is more spacious inside than its eye-catching, cozy exterior might suggest. A concrete sidewalk leads to the covered front stoop and a brass rabbit knocker on the handcrafted door. The living room has a stone fireplace with a timber mantel and a stone hearth, plank flooring, and a soaring ceiling with intersecting angles and two ceiling fans. The walls, hand-hewn from impressively large logs, are offset by chinking reinforced with steel and sealed against the elements. Double pane windows add to the home's energy efficiency. Just beyond the living room, the kitchen area spans two rooms. The large eat-in kitchen has attractive walnut counters, a double farmhouse sink, an exposed timber ceiling and storage shelves. Appliances include a Whirlpool gas range with a hooded vent, a Whirlpool refrigerator-freezer and a Bosch dishwasher. A large walk-in pantry is accessed through what is essentially a butler's kitchen. The master suite spans the rear of the cabin. The master bedroom has horizontal tongue-and-groove walls, a high ceiling with timber rafters and a ceiling fan, and a walk-in closet. A small private deck is just off the bedroom. The master bath has a tiled shower-tub and a wood vanity with a solid surface counter and integrated sink. Pine stairs lead from the living room to the bedroom suite on the second level. This bedroom is generously proportioned and it overlooks the back yard. The private bath has a tiled shower-tub and a pedestal sink. The yard is compact, tidy and tastefully landscaped. It includes a small stone patio with a wrought iron table and chair set. Stairs lead from the upper yard down to the office/studio. This picturesque structure has the potential to serve many purposes and it's an especially nice spot for entertaining. Stained dark on its board-and-batten exterior, with a green shingle roof, the office is light and airy inside with off-white walls, lots of glass and an arched stained-glass window. There's built-in shelving, heating and air-conditioning, a ceiling fan and even a small flat screen TV. The office exits to a covered deck overlooking Montwell Commons' walking path, providing an expansive view that's hard to come by in downtown Lewisburg. Often called an ideal small town, Lewisburg has fine dining, boutique shopping and a lively arts scene. Annual events include the State Fair of West Virginia, two food-themed street festivals and a literary festival. The Greenbrier Valley Theatre offers year-round live performances, and well-known artists appear in concert at Carnegie Hall. In addition to serving as the home of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, the town also has an attractive campus of New River Community and Technical College. The Greenbrier, 8 miles away in White Sulphur Springs, is one of the world's top luxury resorts. The hotel's offerings include multiple golf courses, a spa, a tennis complex, a casino, over 50 boutique shops and a dozen restaurants. The nearby Greenbrier River draws anglers and kayakers, and the 75-mile long Greenbrier River Trail is popular with hikers and bicyclists. Snowshoe Ski Resort, a scenic 90-minute drive to the north, is the largest ski complex in the Mid-Atlantic States, and it offers an extensive system of mountain biking trails in the off-seasons. A comfortable year-round residence, a quaint weekend getaway cabin, or an interesting spot for your small business, this property blends a bit of Greenbrier Valley pioneer history with the convenience and excitement of downtown Lewisburg.
