The Room: $997 a month- Available now for immediate occupancy - The room is also huge at 16x12 (192 square feet). The bedroom is on the second level of the house with three other bedrooms and a shared bathroom. It has two closets and the windows face west getting afternoon sunlight. The room is in the back of the house away from street noise and the room is unfurnished but I can provide a full size bed if you need it. The House: The house is HUGE with four finished levels with lots of space inside, and a big front porch. There are hardwood floors throughout. New family sized washer and dryer are in the back porch off the kitchen. The house has central AC and heat as well as radiator heat. Utilities are split between the housemates and the monthly average in 2022 was $106 for everything (water, electric, gas, Internet, and monthly cleaning service). The common areas include a big kitchen with tons of cabinet space, furnished living room to hang out in, and big front yard with furnished porch. The Neighborhood: The house is on 14th Street between Allison and Buchanan. I call the neighborhood "Upper 14th Street" but it's also known as 16th Street Heights, Petworth, or Columbia Heights. It is just a few blocks north of all the activity of Columbia Heights but located in a safer and quieter area then Columbia Heights. It's one block from the Upshur Rec Center and Pool which is free for you to use. There are multiple 14th and 16th St bus lines to bring you downtown and the Georgia Ave/Petworth metro stop is a 15 min walk. The house has a walk score of 91 since you are walking distance to all the supermarkets, restaurants, bars, shops, etc. of Columbia Heights and Petworth. Parking: There is free off street parking in the back of the house with enough space for 4 vehicles, also there's several blocks of ample un-zoned street parking with no restrictions across the street from the house. The only application fee is $42 to run a tenant screening. 12 month lease is preferred, but a 6 month lease is $75 more a month, and a Month to Month lease is accepted at $150 more a month. Refundable security deposit is one month's rent. In order to stay compliant with DC occupancy laws the room is for one person only (no couples or families), no pets (you can have a goldfish though).
