During World War II, he invited a number of children of family friends in England, to come and board and attend school at Tower House. There were many that did and they resided there for the duration the war. It was essentially a boarding school. After the war ended the Queen of England sent a formal thank you letter to Peace Hazard thanking him for his generosity and the safe haven he offered. The letter is on display at Tower House. One of the former students was recently a guest at Tower House and expressed fond memories of her stay during wartime. The Earle's Court Historic District is highlighted by the original stone water tower in the middle of the street which supplied water to the Earle's Court and Sherry Cottages.
