Our tree-lined street is diverse, full of families and nice neighbors who take pride in their houses and yards. We have enjoyed DeHart Park (walking distance even with young kids) with its great track, playground, tennis court, street hockey rink and community center. We liked attending neighborhood events there including outdoor movie nights and Easter egg hunts. We have two young children and like to walk our older son to his primary school, Seth Boyden. Words can’t describe how much we love this demonstration school that focuses on art, music and all the different abilities and areas for children to shine. Parents all over Maplewood/South Orange are on a waiting list to get their children into this school and we feel lucky to be so close. We are also quite close to Springfield Avenue that has seen some wonderful improvements since we have lived here. Great restaurants, a yoga studio and a terrific hair salon are a short bike ride away. Maplewood has so many great parks and we enjoy being so close to Maplecrest Park as well. The Hilton Library has a terrific weekly pajama story time our kids have loved. We are members and within walking distance of the Maplewood pool, where we have spent every summer of our 5 years in Maplewood. Both of our kids learned to swim there. As a commuter, I like having the jitney stop right across the street; it made my commute much easier. We love living in Maplewood and hope you will as well!
