The unique modified A/frame design creates an open three-level space with huge beam ceilings and one glass wall facing a dramatic canyon view. This custom home was constructed using some amazing specimens of old salvaged wood, including thick cut beams salvaged from the Salem Street School-Chico's first public school. It also contains many custom made steel and iron elements and furnishings. The wooded 13+ acre property is a virtual wildlife sanctuary with a wide range of birds and animals. deer and wild turkey are frequently spotted. It also contains many beautiful oak and maple trees, as well as wildlife trails for walking or hiking. One trail on the property goes from the house to the top of the ridge and leads to a stunning canyon top view of Butte Creek canyon. Most of the windows have been replaced with modern double paned windows, including new sliding doors off the kitchen and bedroom. The roof was repaired and top resealed by Baird Fooring in Nov. 2015.
