This is an off-grid property. This house won't appeal to folks looking for a conventional home but for people who are interested in homesteading and willing to sacrifice some comforts to be more sustainable. The only grid connection it has is a Frontier DSL line. The main structure is a 20' diameter round earthbag cabin with a 12' x 12' sun room attachment. There is a 16' x 8' structure that is a cordwood bathhouse and has a small, covered workshop at one end and a wood shed on the front. This structure has a metal roof. There is also a 16' x 16' pole barn that has a 1500 gallon rainwater harvesting system attached. This property embodies the best of country living with city convenience. It is 25 minutes from downtown Asheville, via 26, and 7 minutes from Mars Hill and shopping (Ingles, etc). The property is private and at the end of the street. Taxes are low and the neighbors are friendly. The driveway is graveled but currently needs to be graded. The access road could also use a load of gravel. This property is only four tenths of a mile from a paved, county-maintained road. The property and driveway are sloped. There is a graded area that once housed a 20 diameter yurt and still has a pole mount for solar panels. There are fruit trees and raised bed gardening areas. A couple of logging roads make some good areas for things such as chicken coops or sheds. A bank won't loan on this kind of property, nor can you get insurance. I am willing to owner finance and earthbag homes are naturally fireproof, rotproof, bugproof, floodproof--even bulletproof - no insurance needed! The price is somewhat negotiable. Thanks for looking, hope to hear from you!
