We renovated our home in 2000 by removing almost entirely the second floor of the house and rebuilding it. We also added on to the main level to create a family room, enlarge the kitchen and closed in a screen porch to create a new dining room. Almost everything in the home except the basement was changed in 2000. Neighborhood Description We are in a close-in suburb to DC, in a neighborhood with lots of families and a vibrant community. We have a 4th of July parade, block parties, spaghetti dinners and a Christmas party for the whole neighborhood in our turn of the century community house that used to be a one-room school house. There is a 40-mile bike trail and creek just two blocks from our house and we are 3 blocks from a major bus artery that leads to the Metro subway system. The elementary school is a quick walk around the corner and up two blocks. It is an excellent school! Our children have attended all the neighborhood schools and have received a top-notch education. The high school is ranked in the top 2% in the nation.
