Talmadge is one of the best, friendliest, most charming and desirable neighborhoods in San Diego. It is very safe, with a very low crime rate. It is a fairly close-knit and social community; virtually everyone who lives in the neighborhood is warm and "neighborly". It is quiet, with very little airplane or freeway noise. In fact, there is very little traffic noise even from major streets because Talmadge is in a "pocket" with no major streets going through it. (When it was developed, it was a gated community.) There's a tiny neighborhood "park" and the neighborhood children have a parade every year on the 4th of July.
