The rest of the neighborhood is a mix of older couples and young families, many military pilots but not all. Our oldest two children have attended Bayside Baptist Pre-School, even though we are not Baptist. We love the school and it really is safe and teaches the values that we present in our home. It is about a 1.25 miles from the house, and there are other options in the area for the 3-5 year old. Our oldest goes to Hermitage Elementary school, just a little past Bayside Baptist .we have enjoyed that Public School, and for the most part, Virginia Beach has great public Schools. As I mentioned, there are a lot of military in our neighborhood, many with young kids. The Lake has Bass, Cat Fish, Croppie, Perch, and I recently learned of some Karp. We have eaten a few of the fish, when they are big enough, but mostly just have fun catching. We kayak a lot, and I own a few Stand Up Paddle Boards that I will go out on quite a bit. It is my own dock, so personal access, that is about 150 from my back door. We get hurricanes from time to time as the east coast does. The lake is regulated by the town, so it never gets too high, and has never been an issue with flooding. We are having a few large trees taken down this spring/summer in the backyard. In the cooler months we have backyard fires nearly daily, and at least once a week. If you rent the home, you are welcomed to the fire wood that I have on hand and I burn a lot of deadfall the accumulates in the backyard. The backyard is fenced in as well, it would keep in small dogs, and it keeps a barrier between the lake and my kids. Another great feature of the neighborhood are the local restaurants we have a small brewery, an Italian restaurant, and three other local Eateries all within a short bike ride. We do this often in the summer time, and it is a fun outing. My 7 and 5 year old ride their bikes, and I put my 2 year old on a baby seat on my beach cruiser. Backyard Fire Pit on lake.
