    What's special

500 Kershaw Street, circa 1889, listed on the National Register Of Historic Places and situated in Cheraw's Historic District, has only been owned by three families. While updates were made in the 1990’s, to modernize the house, the integrity of the Victorian Era has been kept in tact with the original stained glass windows, hardwood floors, and other architectural details from the era. In 2018, the house was updated with a new roof, new paint inside and out, and kitchen updated with new granite countertops and KitchenAid appliances. The yard has an irrigation system as well as an outbuilding/barn. The lot behind the house is included. Downstairs has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, formal dining room and living room, as well as a large family room and kitchen. Upstairs has 2 or 3 bedrooms. One large room could be used as a Bonus Room or den. There is 1 bathroom with an original claw foot tub upstairs and we are currently in the process of adding a second full bath. with a shower. John Craig Evans built the house for his son William Evans. The Evans family and the Page family (who later owned the house) were investors in and builders of the C&L Railroad. One story about the house has it that the lumber for the house was cut to specifications by a firm in Chicago and shipped by rail to Cheraw to be assembled. Another story is that the house was originally the same color as the C&L depot (red). Pictures are soon to come. Also available is a large lot across the street. For those with a town and country inclination, a mini farm just across the river in Marlboro County is available or a mini farm near Northeastern Technical College or both. For the more adventurous and/or business minded, a fully operational and profitable 4 bedroom B&B that includes a three bedroom house next door with a one bedroom loft apartment can also be purchased.
