Several years after its last use for manufacturing, the building served as home to many artists who leased studio space. The Rossmor building became known for the artists who sometimes lived there, and was one of the stops on the original Saint Paul Art Crawl. Today, the seven story building has 109 residential spaces on floors two through seven. The first floor is home to restaurants, bars, and other services, including Key's Cafe, Sawatdee, Camp Bar, Scott Miller Salon, Equipt Gym, and Fitzgerald Park Gifts. ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Currently, the downtown North Quadrant/Fitzgerald Park neighborhood is home to residential buildings, small shops, restaurants, and bars, as well as larger businesses. The Fitzgerald Park neighborhood includes arts, cultural, and historical organizations such as Fitzgerald Park Theatre, Minnesota Public Radio's headquarters, the Minnesota Childrens Museum, the Minnesota History Theatre, and the Minnesota State Capitol. The downtown North Quadrant/Fitzgerald Park neighborhood will see some exciting new developments over the next one to three years. The Central Corridor Light Rail Transit (CCLRT) has a planned stop on Cedar and 10th streets - a three block walk from the Rossmor's front door. On a diagonal corner from the Rossmor's 10th and Robert Street corner, a Lund's grocery store is slated for development beginning in summer 2009. In addition, the City of Saint Paul's comprehensive plan for this neighborhood includes building Fitzgerald Park, an active recreation space for people who live or work downtown, on a portion of the block directly across the street from the Rossmor's front door.
