    What's special

This property is unique because it is located in the heart of the Chattahoochee National Forest. The Boy Scouts of America used to own it. The scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America owned it in the 1900s and they camped there for many years. The property was donated when the man died in the 70s. The property has not changed hands throughout the years. We were the third owners since the 1800s. The property is located off Millcreek road, which is a four mile drive on a nicely graveled road. You’ll see beautiful pasture to the right, and then you’ll see Millcreek’s rushing waters, large rocks, and beautiful scenery until you get to the first gate to your left. You will drive about two miles from there with a panoramic view through the national forest. You will see plenty of wildlife in the area, such as deer, bear, wild hog, and turkey. Before you get to the cabin, you will see two other cabins on the left before arriving at the top. When you ford the creek you will see the side arched rock bridge with the creek to the right. The cabin sits on a gentle knoll overlooking the creek and bridge, across which lies an open area and fire pit. There’s only three people that own property in this whole thousand acres of national forest. The property is located at the very end, and surrounded by national forest on three sides. It lies above the Cohutta Springs Seventh-Day Adventist Center. Originally the deed was 7 acres, but when it was surveyed it turned out to be closer to 5.5 acres. The cabin can be entered from the back double doors and into the outdoor kitchen, which has an antique black and white wood stove with natural rock flooring and vaulted ceiling with open beams. Aside from this room, most other rooms are done completely in knotted pine. There are plenty of windows in this room. There is a walkway that goes all the way around the cabin. Many different species of ferns have been planted such as Christmas Ferns and King Ferns, along with the wild ones. There are also wildflowers, rhododendrons, wild mountain laurels, and hemlocks. The indoor kitchen has a washer and dryer off from it, a Chambers gas stove, gas heater, the house is entirely wired with electricity plugins. It includes an Amish gas refrigerator and ample cabinet space. This kitchen can be entered from two different porches. Downstairs there is an open bedroom where you can see the fireplace from the bed. The fireplace is an 1800’s style fireplace with a beautiful hearth and a mantle made of cedar. Plenty of large windows give a panoramic view to all sides of the property and the wildlife surrounding it. The house has one bathroom with a large garden tub. A 5-foot wide stairway leads to the second floor which is an open area floor plan with a vaulted ceiling. It is also done completely in knotted pine. The front porch goes all the way across with a stairway going all the way down to the cleared pathway that goes all along the creek. Across the bridge, you will see cleared land and a fire pit where you can sit around and roast hot dogs, cookout and sit by the creek. Trail by the creek gives you a nice, cleared area to walk. Cabin has septic tank, well with an antique pump, 1000 gallon propane tank, and completely wired just like you would have electricity. We were using a generator, which worked fine for us. Solar power could be added later on. There is a smaller building by the cabin that could be used as a guest cottage. There is also a storm pit and woodshed/storage building. There is a cave across the ridge to the west of the cabin, which is on National Forest property. We have not located it ourselves, although we have known people that have found the cave. Circle driveway makes entering and exiting easy.
