This is one of the only remaining truly historical buildings in downtown Austin, situated just three blocks west of the Texas State Capitol Building. It was originally built in 1883 by a Scottish architect that used stones and windows from the capitol that burned in 1881, and now stands with two foot thick limestone walls. Most of the rooms have 14 foot ceilings and 12 foot vintage windows, and the restored staircase was built on site. See the marriage of old world charm and current Austin style.
