I love living in Hope Valley Farms; it is one of the few SW Durham neighborhoods that has old growth trees in backyards. My parents used to live about a half dozen homes away from me but have moved out. We would love to welcome somebody to live in the home! The location is great - about 7 miles from UNC and Duke, about 14 miles to RDU Airport, and about 20 miles from Raleigh. It's close to Southpoint Mall and is about an eighth of a mile from a YMCA. Both Third Fork Creek and American Tobacco trails run through the neighborhood and are easily accessed from this home. The house features a wooded backyard and nice neighbors. It's a great neighborhood that is quiet - and we ask that our tenants keep it that way. I've included several pictures here; these are old and I can't figure out how to add new pictures. You can see much of the inside that I photographed on January 25, 2026 via a link that I can email. As you walk in to a wood-floored entryway, you look up to a beautiful hand-painted sky with hints of purple and peach (my friend, a faux finish and spot mural painting artist, just added the sky in early August 2014). There is a dining room to the left, staircase to the second floor to the right, and half bathroom just ahead. Beyond that, there is a large family room and, next to the dining room, a large kitchen with a deck. The master bedroom and bath are next to the family room. Upstairs is a large second family room. There are three bedrooms, a full bath, laundry room with washer and dryer hookups (no W&D, but I can provide at a small cost, if interested), and attic. There is a large 2-car garage. In late August 2014 we scraped the ceiling of "popcorn" and painted the whole garage, which completed the house painting (2y earlier exterior and previous year all the interior was painted). Speaking of painting, I use no-VOC premium paint and primer; originally I used Mystic brand from Common Ground Green building store in downtown Durham but then after they closed, I use Sherwin-Williams brand no-VOC paint. There is quite a bit of under-the-house crawl-space storage, as well as a large and easily accessible walk-in attic. The tax records indicate 2444 square feet, but I think it's more like 2200 square feet. The HVAC system is fairly new and includes programmable thermostats. The house exterior was painted in mid-2012 and all of the inside, except the garage and attic, was painted in mid-2013. The garage ceiling had its "popcorn" scraped in late 2014 and the entire inside of the garage was painted. A new composite kitchen sink and faucet were installed in the kitchen in mid-2013; shortly before that, all the bathroom faucets were replaced. A new water heater was installed early in 2014. Kitchen cabinets were refinished early in March 2015. In 2025 the master bathroom was remodeled including getting a new Toto toilet, tile floor, and beautiful flower mural. The master bedroom was renovated with a new floor. The guest bathroom was painted with an immersive Monet-themed mural and got a new tile floor. The entry hallway got a new wood floor and upstairs bathroom got a crane mural. The yard has minimal maintenance, beyond keeping any fallen tree debris cleaned up and a small grass area mowed. No companion animals, please. I live a few minute walk away, and a handyman who has promptly worked on issues and improvements on this house is just a minute walk further. There is a $75 application fee and last month's rent security deposit. Owner pays for all utilities and must have renter's insurance. No smoking or companion animals allowed.
