This beautifully renovated 4 bedroom house near Los Gatos and Cambrian Park has been a treasure of my family for over 32 years. Everything from the spacious sustainable garden to the kitchen details, finishes, exterior and interior painting, facade- literally every and any change from its retro 60s origins, was completed and done by our family or close friends of ours. This place is special to us and we hope it will be for you, too. The House: At just about 2,000 square feet, the house has four bedrooms total; there are two smaller rooms 12ft by 10 ft. each with a sliding door closet, a middle-sized room 14ft. by 12ft also with a closet, and finally, the master bedroom at 18 ft. by 12 ft. with two closets and a private ensuite bathroom. Every room has doubled-paned lattice windows, beautiful natural light, and restored golden oak hardwood floors. Both bathrooms have granite surfaced vanities and have been renovated. There is a newly finished sunlit entry-way with a gorgeous discreet geometric smoked glass and mahogany front door that steps into the kitchen. When you enter the kitchen, there is an island with two dimmable pendant lights. The large stainless steel sink overlooks the dining area and has a clear view into the back patio and backyard. The gas oven range, dishwasher and very high powered professional grade vent system is excellent if you find yourself in the kitchen a lot like we did. The dining area has space for a standard 6 person table but we've certainly squeezed more than that time to time. Behind the dining area is a large cabinet system designed for pantry use and also has a decorate lattice structure for wine and liqour storage. The back kitchen wall is an entire window and two sliding glass doors following the lattice window design of the entire house. Upon opening the doors there is a large covered patio we extended the roof over supported by pillar systems which is completely shielded by heat, rain, wind and has plenty of space to have a outdoor patio table, grill. The large spacious living room has plenty of space for 8 foot couches and can fit any sized tv or projection system. Location: The Neighborhood would be considered Cambrian Park however this location sits on the border of many neighborhoods. The backyard has a bit of a surprise that most backyards in San Jose do not have: direct access to a public park with a private locked access gate. Rafton is situated parallel to Lone Hill Park where every home between Michon Drive and Dalton Drive share a large interconnected fence that is 8 feet tall and about a quarter mile long that borders the park where you get to have the full privacy of your backyard but also direct access to a massive field and very well-kept and clean public park, playground, and basketball court. The gate in our backyard opens to a shaded grass area under massive pine trees- where we have had many birthday parties and gatherings as well. Transit: The main avenue and reference point you will tell your friends, family, colleagues how to navigate to you is Camden Ave. off of 85. Camden is just two blocks over from Rafton Drive; close enough to be on the highway in two minutes, far enough so you don't hear the bustle of the traffic at any time of the day, with great north and south access points that do not normally get backed up getting onto the interstate. It takes about 20 minutes to get to San Jose International Airport, 45 minutes to San Francisco International Airport, 20-30 minutes to many Silicon Valley, Menlo Park, Mountain View offices like Google, Apple, Intel, Facebook, Netflix, HP, etc. There are several state of the art hospitals like Good Samaritan, Stanford, all within 10 minutes of the house. The beaches of Santa Cruz are 45 minutes to an hour away on a very beautiful scenic drive through the Santa Cruz mountains. Public Schools: Our home is in one of the best locations for public schools in San Jose. We have Noddin Elementary, Alta Vista, Union Middle, Leigh High, Branham, Pioneer- all within a 10 minute drive from our central location. Our whole family attended many of these schools and had been great academic experiences to prepare for college. Overall, there is very little that this home does not have that any one family could hope for an essential home. And if it isn't directly here, the location of our Rafton house definitely has whatever you need within a very short distance.
