    East Shotwell Street, with its high style Victorians, is the grand entry into beautiful downtown Bainbridge. "Mart" Harrell with locally made concrete blocks. Called "Mart," thanks to owning a clothing store called "The Mart," it went bankrupt in the 1890s. Broughton Street) auctioned the contents of The Mart off in 1896, which sold for $11,000 to the Belcher Brothers, who owned retail stores in both Bainbridge and nearby Quincy, Florida. This house, built ten years later, features a free-standing fireplace in a second-floor bedroom (there is no fireplace below), which is especially unique. The rooms on the first floor are separated by fluted columns with carved capitals and large pocket doors with original hardware. Huge windows fill the spaces with natural light. All bedrooms are on the second floor, as well as a finished bonus room turned laundry room, which can double as an office, playroom, or guest room. The large fenced backyard has plenty of space for playing, gardening, and more, and even room to add on a downstairs primary suite off the cozy den. The den is complete with functional gas logs in the fireplace (which would make an especially cozy sitting room for a bedroom addition!). The home has been well-maintained with much work down by long-time stewards and features a new roof on the main dwelling and updated systems and is fully livable as is, but is priced to allow for its new owners to make kitchens and bathrooms their own.
