A few blocks to an AMAZING year-round local farmers market that is fantastic, offering not only fresh fruits, veggies and herbs, but freshly baked bread, locally roasted coffee beans, honey gathered mere days before and many other goodies (I got a bunch of locally grown basil the size of a volleyball for a few dollars!) There is also a community garden. Adjacent to that is a city golf course and putting green for adults and kids, and the YMCA fitness center offering weight training, yoga, spinning, aerobics, water aerobics, lap pool, as well youth programs including and basketball, soccer and martial arts. The Y boasts an outdoor children's aquatic playscape pool for tots to teens and an adult lap pool. Next door to the YMCA is a public playground, soccer field and running track surrounded by trees. It is also a great place to walk your dogs or bring the kids. There are two adult only municipal golf courses one mile away and a second putting range 2.3 miles away. You are six miles from beautiful Lady Bird Lake with running/walking trails and 45 minutes from Lake Travis. There are also numerous springs and watering holes within a half hour's drive. Attention foodies: within 2-3 miles you will find many locally owned restaurants: In 2011 Bon Appetit awarded nearby Franklin's "The Best BBQ Restaurant in America", Contigo Alfresco Bar/Dining is nationally acclaimed in the NY Times and Food & Wine. Also worth noting: award winning The Salty Sow (head/farm to table), Eastside Cafe, Hoover's, East Side Pies, Hillside Farmacy, Foreign & Domestic and Vivo. There are also numerous cool, hip food trailers, bars (Haymaker, Drink.Well, Nomad, Carousel Lounge) and coffee shops with wi-fi within biking distance.
