    What's special

I've got a room in my house in West Seattle that we'd like to rent out to a housemate. This is a VERY large house, so this place will NOT ever feel crowded. Lets start with what you care about the most... the room... it is a "Large" being 12x13 feet before we include an 8' long closet (with shelves at one end), and is on the lower floor, and it's got GREAT sunlight in it - having 2 southern facing windows- Oh, and it's got GREAT curtain rods (but the view is of the street so it's not one of the breathtaking panoramic views you find in Better Homes and Gardens.). Now, why is the room the most amazing one you will ever see? Because of the crown moldings that are clear finished fir and 14" tall. The ceiling is 9" up, and there is a chandelier and brass wall sconces from Paris for lighting. In the closet are hand gold leafed shelf brackets. And there is one more bit of lighting you have to see to believe. Also, the room is wired for internet and cable. This house has good energy, and is a comfortable space. Standard stuff, Washer/Dryer, Garbage disposal, but it has some extra nice things as well. The water heater is a whole house instant electric, so as long as we don't overtax it's ability to make hot water, we can NEVER run out of hot water for showers (and we have great water pressure). There is a nice fireplace in the living room, and bits of art tucked away around the house. There is also an exercise room with a commercial treadmill (with a TV in front of it), and a commercial ab machine. There are some great pieces of antique furniture in the house, so it makes for a nice place. This is NOT an apartment looking place. There is also a full fledged climbing wall in a stairwell, and there is high speed internet wired to all of the rooms. There is a woodworking shop in the basement, but it will take some cleaning to get it fully functional. We also have a great board game collection (with games like Ticket to Ride). There is good on-street parking, and it's a quiet neighborhood. The house is about a 1 minute walk to the bus stop, and from there it's about 20 minutes (by bus) to first and union downtown. There is some shopping within walking distance, and the grocery stores are like 6 blocks away. The house is not without it's faults. There is some construction going on (step by step improvements), projects in the winter are usually inside, and in the summer, we work on outside projects. The bottom line is if you are looking for a manicured lawn, this is not the place - for another 2 or 3 years... There is no smoking in this house (and to be clear, if you smoke I will not rent to you), and there are also no drugs here, and there are no animals here. We try to keep a gender balance here in the house. We are looking for someone that is more - rather than less - social. We are certainly not an "intentional" community, but if your first statement about yourself is: "I keep to myself" - please do not respond. We, ideally, would like to find someone that will instigate social interactions in the house. The house has two kitchens, you will probably choose the downstairs kitchen - since the room is downstairs. The bottom line on money is that the room is $800 per month which includes all the utilities on the house. And the utilities include some nice things, like... I buy toilet paper at Costco, so it's included, as is dishwashing liquid. If you want to do month to month instead of a year lease, add $50 to the advertized price. also, I will rent to couples, and if thats the case, please add $50 to the rent to cover the additional utilities. Call John at (two oh six) 932-six six two two by voice to arrange to come take a tour of this magnificent room. add $50/month if less than a year lease... add $50/month if a couple. Utilities included, optionally furnished
