It can be about learning from others, sharing a little yard work, lowering our carbon footprint, and other fun stuff like that. The mental health and long life benefits of shared housing and community are shown in many studies (check out the Blue Zone studies!), but you know that moment when you need to borrow 2 eggs on a Saturday morning for that epic brunch?... now that's where the magic happens right? Anyway, our house is pretty relaxed and we see each other from time to time. Kitchen chats help keep us connected but we're all busy and active out in the community so it's really maybe a 3 out of 10 now days on the scale of social community houses, and probably an 8 of 10 on clean. Everyone living here is practicing calm, quiet, progressive, inclusive lifestyle and working to be socially conscious, equity minded, anti-racist, growth mindset, beautifully imperfect and learning... etc. no drugs please, very limited alcohol use here (some of us are zero) Ok...still interested? here we go with the details... Scooter or bike to Ravenna station for Light Rail is also quite easy - High speed wifi - Century link - usually over 50mb UP and down for good zoom quality - Easy access to I-5 and transit 2 bathrooms in the house - one on each floor We only have 4 people total in the house, occasional guests is ok but no live in partners please (our lease charges extra for 5th person) (Basement apartment is totally separate and she shares back yard with us occasionally) People Info Overall, we're ideally looking for kind mature humans who are... - experienced with co-housing and sharing spaces (5+ years) - calm, kind, cooperative mindset, have been doing self/inner work, therapy, trainings etc for 8+ years - understanding of conscious & non-violent communication methods - mindful, positive, relaxed, kind, socially conscious, progressive, low-key, empathetic to others (in the house & beyond) - ideally enjoy a very calm quiet house, more of a respite than a full on community style house. - respectful, good community ethics, equity minded, welcoming, LGBTQ friendly, anti-racist, conscious and on your journey of learning while acknowledging the gifts of imperfection. - good open communication is awesome, no PNW passive please (IRL preferred for most things) - if you enjoy an occasional deep dialogue about life, fantastic! we mostly pass each other in the kitchen, and have dinner once a month when possible - Artists, Nonprofit workers or folks working in mental health/wellness/arts/etc. are encouraged to apply (discount may be possible) Other Details - No smoking, no pets (sorry, not even cats/etc. due to allergies! fish/etc. ok in room) - Natural cleaning supplies only including laundry please. - No scents or perfumes in the house, some natural may be ok - Compost, low waste, low energy use house Damage Deposit is $600, refundable + Last Months rent held as deposit Saying Hello / Contacting Us When you email, we really appreciate if you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a house. We can't reply to everyone but we appreciate you writing. (If short term - keep it short is fine) If longer term interest, tell us a bit more It's fine to keep it simple (unlike this ad we've developed over the years! :-) but please do tell us a bit about yourself. ie. - Recent housing situation, reason for moving, and what you liked/didn't like about other shared housing - A couple brief reasons why you like living in a Shared House - Job reliability info a - Typical morning schedule - Something to show a bit about yourself, could be Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn or whatever... really helps to see you're a real human and what your vibe is and if any friends in common. If you're not on socials, we understand... it's a hot mess out there. Maybe get creative with something... or a photo or blog? :-) We tend to get a lot of emails and we will try to reply to as many people as we can. We won't be able to reply to everyone, but thank you for writing. Once we do reply, we ask a few questions via email usually and then do a phone interview, then in-person viewing/interview with housemates as schedule allows. Thanks!
