UPDATE: No longer taking applications or tours. A magical newly remodeled 1-bedroom home in the trees of Mount Washington. This sunny retreat is perfect for a couple who both want their own detached office space. MAIN HOUSE The main house features a pitched ceiling, skylights, open-concept kitchen and breathtaking views of the canyon. The fully remodeled kitchen has a large farmer's sink, state of the art oven, new dishwasher, and a large fridge with water filtration. All appliances are green/eco-friendly. Off of the dining room is the first small bedroom and bathroom with stand up shower. There is full AC/heat in the main house including bedroom solarium and living room. The 1 bedroom in the main house is on the smaller side. The bed pictured is full bed. It won't fit a King. The living room is a 300-sq-foot all-glass solarium. The insulated glass plus newly built-in AC and heating units keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. FIRST OUTDOOR OFFICE SPACE & YURT Detached Office: Just off the home entry is a small detached garage which is recently converted into an office plus full bathroom with tub. We suggest this as an office or guest bedroom. Also fully equipped with electric/wifi capabilities. Eco-friendly washer/dryer unit off of the bathroom. Yurt: The Yurt served as my filmmaker husband's office. The sunny yurt is fully powered with electric/ wifi capabilities. We provide the AC unit out there. The outdoor office is a bit more in the "elements" so to speak with the lack of insulation out there, some ants and cobwebs at certain times of year, but a beautiful place to work and feel in nature. Great wifi if you by a Wifi extender (we recc the $80 we used which gives you high speed wifi out there). OUTSIDE MAGIC On the other side of the house, you'll find two large decks, a desert-friendly garden (run by automatic irrigation), and many hummingbirds. On the bottom deck is a 12-foot yurt that functions as an office. NEIGHBORHOOD The quiet hilly neighborhood of Mount Washington is tucked up in the trees with expansive decks, a yurt, and garden. You wouldn't know you were 5-10 minutes to Highland Park's bustling Figueroa or York Blvd or 15-20 minutes from Downtown Los Angeles. Many of the roads end in dog paths or secret stairs, so a perfect place for hikers or dog owners. MINIMAL LIVING STORAGE: There is one closet in bedroom and a small storage space located above the living room (accessible with tall ladder) plus a toolshed in the backyard. PARKING 1 car can fit in the driveway, and then free hilly street parking. We actually fit two cars side by side once we learned to park ;) IDEAL TENANTS We're looking for responsible long-term renters who will treat this home like their very own and who will respect our neighbors. Low maintenance, independent tenants who can pretty much take care of small things like a clogged sink or some ants without any micro-managing. Also, people who like to garden and water plants by the office are a plus! We will send a gardener if needed and we pay for the water since the garden is on automatic sprinklers.
