Pets possible. If interested, please message me and tell me about yourself, who would be living here, what brings you to town, etc. I prefer personal contact to booking tours through the app, which sometimes appears to give people inaccurate information! This (furnished) 4bd/4bath home and 2-acre property was designed and built by a bird biologist--a 30+year act of love. And bought by another wildlife biologist. The property is designed to provide habitat and food sources for a large diversity of Montana birds in every season. There are pollinator gardens, herb gardens, berries, crabapples, glittery rock pathways, 4 small ponds, rock walls, and beautiful new flowers popping up throughout the season. Lots of bird houses producing babies, feeders, bird baths, bat houses, native bee houses, an owl house (squirrel-occupied), happy deer, and sometimes "Mommy fox". The house has a large loft (office space) and 2 upstairs bedrooms/bathroom, a main floor bedroom/bath, open floor plan with deck (our "French cafe" surrounded by trees), and a bedroom/bath on the lower floor. There is an 8-person low-chlorine (ozone) hot tub off the screened-in porch. At night, the yard is full of lanterns and fairy lights. A couple times per year the group of Miller Creek free ranging horses will come enjoy the pasture in the side yard. Most of the property is behind a deer fence, making it ideal for dogs. You feel like you are in the wilderness but it's 3 minutes to Brooks (Hwy 93), 12-15 minutes to the University and downtown, 7-8 minutes to Community Hospital. The neighborhood is lovely, 2-acre parcels with many people who've been there for decades and look out for one another. The house has all the amenities. Granite countertops, glass top range with multi function convention oven, Rancillio espresso maker, Keurig coffee maker, large microwave, reverse osmosis drinking water, Miele dishwasher, Ring doorbell, wifi thermostats, 2 large refrigerator/freezers plus another large freezer downstairs. There is a dog door out to the huge fenced yard, which you can close if not wanted. 3 bedrooms have French doors onto balconies with sitting areas overlooking the gardens. French doors from the living room and the dining room lead on to the deck with swing, chairs and tables. Fire pit in the back yard with swing and Adirondack chairs-great for roasting marshmallows under the stars before being to the hot tub! There is high speed Internet and wifi through Spectrum. Besides the boiler, there is a large mini split air conditioner and furnace which is very energy efficient. You don't have to worry about turning on air conditioning, although the trees keep the house fairly cool. The Den restaurant and coffee shop is just at the top of the hill. The living room has double French doors looking out on gardens and a cedar cathedral ceiling. You are welcome to plant veggies in the large greenhouse and raised beds. We are looking for a family who will care for this house and property and immediately inform us of any maintenance or repair needs. It is vital to keep the gates in the deer fence closed! Twice monthly visits by a master gardener to take care of the landscaping is included. No pesticides or chemicals are used on the land. We will be away for one year, so this is a 1-year lease. there is some chance the house would be available for 2 years or more but we can't guarantee that! The house comes with the major furnishings and appliances--beds, couches, tables and chairs, shelves, etc. We can provide more as desired --cookware, dishes and utensils, etc. This furnished house is available for one year, and not available until Aug 18, 2026. Internet and WiFi are included in rent. Home is on septic. Landscape maintenance by a master gardener is included. Other utilities separate. Mini-split air conditioning and boiler (hydronic baseboard) heat is energy efficient. There are three heating zones with Wi-Fi thermostats. Garbage / recycling charge is typically $47 per month.
