People who come to visit for the first time usually say, "Oh, your home is so cozy" and it really is! Our family room, flanked on the east with a large brick fireplace with cabinets and book shelves on each side. The west side of the room is our eat-it in kitchen with large center island featuring a built-in stove top and oven. Lots of cabinets give us plenty of storage, a floor to ceiling pantry, work desk which also serves as a bar when needed. Our former dining room is now a "lounge" with leather chairs and an antique library table with lion heads carved into the legs. The former living room is now our dining room for our ever growing family. Our dining table can easily seat 12 and we can squeeze in 14 if absolutely necessary. Both living room and lounge feature beautiful floor to ceiling draperies. Upstairs features a huge master bedroom, bath with jacuzzi tub and new walk-in shower. A large laundry room includes 12 more cabinets and storage areas with plenty of room for washer, dryer, ironing board and hanging area and it makes doing laundry almost a joy - I said "almost". Maybe the best part of the house is our screened in back porch, large deck and beautifully landscaped backyard. We have spent hundreds of hours creating gorgeous gardens filled with established perennials giving us brilliant colors and glorious flowers to enjoy all season long. The lawn has been meticulously cared-for the many years we have enjoyed living here. The yard is fenced and much of the fence area features narrow gardening space featuring native Iowa plants that attract hummingbirds and butterflies.
