Traditional Colonial home for rent in Burke Centre. It can offered FURNISHED or unfurnished and available as early as September 1. For those unfamiliar, Burke Centre is a planned community Fairfax. It has several neighborhoods, this is the Oaks neighborhood. All street names have "Oak" in them. This was the largest of the floorplans for the neighborhood with about 3500 sq ft of living space. There is another 1000 sq ft of unfinished full height ceiling of storage space in the attic and basement, the oversized 2- car garage, and a large screened in porch. It's a good sized house and one Thanksgiving we had a total of 21 people at the house overnight. There are 6 bedrooms. Four bedrooms on the top floor. There is a master bedroom with a full bathroom en suite, and 3 large bedrooms with a hall bathroom. There is a guest room on the main floor with a bathroom that also opens to the foyer. We finished the basement a few years ago and gave it a legal bedroom with an egress window and a full bath en suite. We have used that for our nanny, but it also works for teenagers. It has a spacious kitchen with plenty of counter and cabinet space. The cabinets were recently upgrade to have sliding shelves. Except for the kitchen and mud room, the entire first floor has Hardwood floors. The common rooms are large, and include a family room, formal living room, formal dining room, and playroom in the basement. We have a wood burning fireplace in the family room.. A screened-in porch looks out to a wooded backyard with hummingbirds, finches, woodpeckers, and a family of chipmunks. There is also a deck. All of the four bathrooms have bathtubs. The Oaks has a community pool within walking distance, and there are 5 pools available to use across Burke Centre. It is only $110 for a family to use the pools for the season when you sign up in Spring. The house is on a loop of two streets that curve and meet at two separate points. That loop is almost exactly 1 mile. Around our loop there are multiple playgrounds, trails, and a free library stand. The active HOA sponsors free community events and a wide range of affordable classes. Top Fairfax County public schools assigned are Fairview Elementary School (walking distance, but there is a 300 yard section without sidewalks, so a bus does pickup children) and James Robinson Secondary School boasting its International Baccalaureate Program. Cox and Verizon FIOS available for cable/internet/phone service. We were able to get a deal with Verizon FIOS for all three services including a DVR for under $80 per month. The house is well insulated and the electric bill is very reasonable even with all electric appliances. Close to major highway intersections. Ox Road (Route 123), Fairfax County Parkway (Route 286, old Pohick Road), Burke Lake Road, and Virginia Railway Express (VRE). Express Bus to The Pentagon stops three houses down the street. It is pretty much even (25-30 min drive) to DCA or IAD. My parents were the original owners and I grew up in this house. It's been well loved. I am leaving the area but don't want to sell the house. We are hoping for someone who is looking for a multi-year rental.
