The space Come and enjoy this comfortable and modern 1,700 sq ft flat in the Mission. Great light with huge windows looking out the best Mission neighborhood. Fully stocked kitchen for cooking and cocktail making. Each bedroom has it's own private bathroom. Fireplace for lounging on a foggy San Francisco evening. Guest access Parking space, front door and master bedroom open onto shared communal courtyard, gas BBQ, large roof deck with breathtaking views of the city, projector with large screen for watching movies, but note we do not have a TV. Interaction with guests We will be away and not readily available, but leave detailed instructions, contact info for our housekeeper (who has a key) and a friend who can answer any questions. The neighborhood NEIGHBORHOOD The Mission is simply the most exciting and interesting neighborhood in the City. Long an Irish and then Latino neighborhood, it retains its funky character while also adding incredible restaurants and bars, an active nightlife and the best urban park in the world, Dolores Park (5 blocks away) which overlooks the city from its top. RESTAURANTS This area is the location of many top restaurants and cafes: Locanda, Farina, and Delfina, some of the best pizza in San Francisco is served at Flour and Water (1 block) and Pizzeria Delfina. Local California cuisine is great at Universal, Range, Frances, and Commonwealth. Those who are adventurous might try the super spicy Mission Chinese Food, named one of the 3 most innovative restaurants in the USA by The New York Times. Great burgers at MIssion Bowling Club, Dear Mom and Slow Club. And for quick, cheap, and excellent tacos you can't beat the carnitas at La Taqueria. German food and beer at the cozy Schmidt's (1/2 block). Gourmet ice cream at Humphrey Slocumbe or Xanath. Coffee at Philz Turkish Coffee. Cocktails at Trick Dog or Nihon Whiskey Lounge or Lolinda or ... La Palma Mexicatessen, Mission Local Eatery, Greenheart Foods, Dynomite Donuts, St. Francis Soda Fountain, Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen and ... well, you get the idea. CAFES and BREAKFAST Stable around the corner is great. Full breakfasts at Mission Beach Cafe and St. Frances Fountain. San Francisco's most popular bakery/cafe is Tartine. The newest addition is Linea Caffe on 18th just past Mission Street: waffles and salads. COFFEE Five of the best artisan coffee roasters in San Francisco are nearby: Philz, Blue Bottle, Four Barrell, Ritual Roasters, and Linea Caffe. Great ambiance and super coffee. ICE CREAM Bi-Rite Creamery always has a line for it's organic house made ices cream cones. Humphry Slocombe makes their own excellent ice cream as well. BARS Amazing cocktails at Trick Dog (2 blocks), Beretta, Locanda, Lolinda (with gorgeous roof deck overlooking the City) . Great beer selection at Shotwells across street. Chill out at Zoe's or Asiento. VEGETARIAN The vegan Mexican restaurant Gracias Madre on Mission Street is excellent. Rainbow is a vegetarian grocery store nearby with an excellent selection of bulk foods. GROCERIES Bi-Rite is an incredible local full service grocery in a tiny space. They have organic produce, local meats, fresh fish, and a great selection of prepared dishes. Rainblow Grocery is one of San Francisco's oldest coop full service grocers and a San Francisco classic. ARTS Near ODC Dance Theater, SOEX (Southern Exposure) Gallery, Red Poppy Art House, Viracocha, Roxie Theater, Mission murals and much much more. Getting around 5 blocks from 2 BART stations and close to numerous bus lines connecting directly to downtown and waterfront.
