The house has an open, airy floor plan. High ceilings; large stone fireplace, enormous wrap-around deck. Our house is always chosen for entertaining friends and family, whether it be winter, spring, summer or fall. Unlike our other house, which is twice the size, this house has a lot of usable space. The kitchen isn't large but has great counter and cabinet space. When we built the house we opted for many custom features. For example, instead of sliders we installed custom french doors, custom windows, detailed hardwood floors, cedar siding, designer carpets in bedrooms, imported pedestal sink and toilet in bathroom. The property, we feel, is beautifully landscaped, with a terraced garden on the side of the house and a nice and spacious lawn in front (professionally maintained). Holland Pond is private and beautiful and a lot of fun for swimming in the summer or skating in the winter. Though we've owned the house since it was built in 2001 (moved in 2002), it's a second home for us, and sadly we haven't spent much time there lately, so it's like new. Neighborhood Description The neighborhood is very family oriented. We have our family and friends over, and our neighbors have theirs. But the lake is private, so it's never crowded and everyone using it has a stake in it, so it's clean and peaceful. Other than the lakes, it pretty well wooded. It's less than a 10 minute drive to Amherst, and a five minute drive in the other direction to Super Stop and Shop and Belchertown. We often come out from Boston and it takes exactly 1 1/2 hours, an easy drive from the Mass Pike. You can drive or ride your bike to the bike trail, which is about two miles from the house.
