Stand-alone cheerful cottage on the grounds of a designer midcentury home in beautiful Altadena, California surrounded by lush tropical and desert grounds that define the iconic California experience. Altadena is one of the most leafy, desirable areas in Los Angeles situated in the hills above historic Pasadena with stunning views of the San Gabriel mountains. Tucked back on a private drive with its own entrances to both the front yard and backyard pool area, this cozy abode offers rare privacy, peace and quiet. Parking for one car is provided. The location is ideal for those who love nature, beauty and hiking without sacrificing easy access to urban conveniences and culture. The Rose Bowl, The Norton Simon Museum, The Huntington Gardens, Cal Tech, Art Center and NASA's JPL are just minutes away. The grounds are ideal for entertaining. Visiting friends or small gatherings allowed. The spacious guest house is equipped with everything you need for extended stays. There are two XL twin beds whose lux throw pillows enable one or both beds to convert to a couch during the day. Also included is a kitchenette, BBQ, convection oven, multiple outdoor eating areas, a work area with a large desk, a sizeable bathroom with shower and a Hollywood style make-up mirror, WIFI, a TV with major streaming services, a fantastic collection of art books and more. Dogs are allowed as long as they are house-trained, not aggressive, leashed coming and going and do not bark incessantly when left alone. Our backyard is completely enclosed and a great spot for your fur baby to hang out. For the past six years the cottage was a perpetually booked five-star Airbnb. Now entering our senior years, we are transitioning to longer term stays to have more freedom and travel time. We earned our longtime Superhost status in part because of our flexible nature toward guests and willingness to accommodate their individual needs. The unit is best suited for a single tenant for longer term stays, but accommodates two comfortably for shorter stays. A second tenant will increase the monthly rent $300.00 for stays longer than one month. Length of lease is flexible but must be at least 31 days and not over a year. Though we will consider renewing the lease for good tenants. Rent amount is based on one-person occupancy. Add $300.00 per month for two-person occupancy. (The space is better suited for single occupancy, though double occupancy works for shorter stays.) All utilities included plus free laundry service. Security deposit due upon signing lease. Security deposit amount is negotiable for one-month stays. Free parking spot on premises for one car. Smoking allowed in outdoor areas. Non aggressive, house trained dogs allowed; temperament more important than size. We will favor tenants who have renters insurance, though this is flexible for shorter term stays. After the Altadena fires we witnessed the losses for renters in the area who had no renters insurance, so highly recommended it; is very inexpensive.
