The kitchen and living room floors weren't too bad and the basement carpet was nice. There was also a new roof. In the 3 years that we have lived there, all of the windows most of the doors, including the garage door, the siding and the front and back steps needed to be replaced. They were in very poor shape. We took out all closets and moved some nonbearing walls, which made it possible to add a small master bathroom, complete with laundry. It afforded to make one bedroom and the living room a little bigger. We took out the carpet that was in the bedrooms and replaced them with engineered wood floors. There are some built in shelves and a closet in the master BR. We reconfigured the kitchen and removed a large closet between the kitchen and dining room to make it open concept and changed the wall near the steps to a railing to make that space more open, as well. We moved the old kitchen cabinets, with some others to the basement and put a closet down there. The kitchen was provided with new and more cabinets and high-end appliances. The door that was once to the garage has now been bumped out to make way for a pantry. We also remodeled the old bathroom, moving a vent away from the toilet to under the sink cabinet, adding a few shelves and taking out the peel-and-stick floor and putting in ceramic on the floor, sink backsplash, and above the shower. The backyard had a steep slope and was not fun to mow. We have worked on landscaping to eliminate much of that. We have also replaced the AC unit. The home truly has, now, been updated and well maintained. Between materials and labor, this home is now in the $200,000 range.
