The main floor of the house has a kitchen, dining room, living room, master bedroom, and one and a half bathrooms. The bathroom is entered into only through the bedroom. The half-bath is located between the fireplaces of the dining room and living room. There is wide pine flooring throughout this level. There is a fully carpeted bedroom above the kitchen, which is accessed by a spiral staircase. There is a private deck outside this bedroom, which is entered via a door from the bedroom and the outside stairway. There is a fully carpeted downstairs room below the master bedroom, which is accessed by a spiral staircase. The downstairs room has two closets, a built-in cabinet, an 8-foot wide hearth, a door to the crawl space, and a door to the outside. All of the fireplaces work, but some may not be safe. They are legal to use, though, because they predate the building code. Neighborhood Description The home is located in the "Old and Historic" downtown district of Marblehead. It is in a mixed neighborhood of businesses and residences. We are next door to a small hotel on one side of us, and small businesses a few doors up the street on the other side of us. Marblehead Harbor is around the corner, a few minutes walk away. A full-service supermarket is a few minutes walk away. We are a few doors away from a National Historic landmark, which is the home of Elbridge Gerry, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, a governor of Massachusetts, and vice president under James Madison.
