    What's special

LISTING IS ON HOLD WHILE APPLICATIONS ARE BEING PROCESSED Are you dreaming of living on a tree-lined street in a beautiful Craftsman house with a front porch swing, eating a handful of delicious grapes you picked fresh from the vine, while listening to the soft clucking of five bright-eyed city chickens? Do you crave the opportunities of a big city with the walkable convenience of a small town? We'd like to make your dream come true! We are looking for friendly, warm-hearted folks to live in our charming 1918 Seattle Craftsman and care for our beloved chickens while we're on temporary assignment in London! The house is conveniently located near the center of the vibrant Roosevelt neighborhood, and within easy walking distance of Green Lake and the University of Washington. There's easy access to Interstate-5, so downtown Seattle is only a 15 minute drive away, or an easy commute on nearby public transportation. The house is also close to Interstate 520, so Bellevue, Kirkland and Redmond are easily accessible as well. You would live on the main floor of our two level home, which has been converted into two independent apartments with their own private entrances. Entering through the front of the house, off the large covered front porch (complete with swing), you walk into an open living room and dining room with leaded glass windows, a built-in buffet with tulip glass doors, and a decorative tiled fireplace. The two comfortably-sized bedrooms have walk-in closets, and the one bathroom (with a tub shower) is roomy enough for both storage and the full-sized stackable W/D. The main floor has oak and fir hardwood floors throughout and rooms painted in lovely warm colors. Skylights in the spacious kitchen and back bedroom let in lots of extra light. Appliances include: W/D (full-sized stacking front-loaders, new in 2015), dishwasher (2016), electric stove and refrigerator. The heating is forced air and controlled by you. The wiring, plumbing, and insulation in the walls have been updated, and a new water heater installed in 2015. You would have unlimited access to the entire fully fenced yard, which was professionally designed with edible landscape (grapes, apples, blueberries, figs and raspberries), native plantings and an easy-to-maintain hardscape. There's room for your own gardening as well! Taking care of the yard would be your responsibility and also, we hope, your pleasure. The backyard also houses a secure detached garage, which includes a small storage area for your bikes and such. And then there are the chickens! It's chicken ownership with all the benefits and none of the mess, as our girls (Chickory, Bandito, Oreo, Maple and Henrietta) just need feeding and watering and a little tender loving care from you. Their coop is cleaned by our property manager once a month and all food is paid for! The fresh organic eggs are yours to eat, or give away to friends, or sell to our lovely neighbors. Three times a year (twice for 1 week, once for 3 weeks), we will visit Seattle and stay in the basement apartment. We are thoughtful, respectful, quiet people who are easy to be around. Good communication is important to us! We would love to hear from you occasionally by email or phone to know that you are happy and secure in the house and that things are going well for you (and the chickens!). We will also communicate with you as needed to convey details about our visits and any other pertinent house matters. Monthly chicken coop cleanings, general home repairs, and time sensitive property needs will be handled by our wonderful responsive local property managers. Thing we especially love about the house & neighborhood: East-facing kitchen with lovely warm morning sunlight Huge horse chestnut tree in front Stand-alone tree fort that doubles as a deck. Tree-lined streets with lovely old houses Very active neighborhood association and block watch Walk Score: 93 (Walker's Paradise!) - Bike Score: 93 (Biker's Paradise) LISTING IS
