    What's special

The house has porcelain concrete walls in a good heavy wire mesh. (Very few vintage Lakewood homes have this type of solid wall construction.) Paintings are hung from the molding near the ceiling. The beautiful stained glass window in the living room is the center piece of the home. The living area wall sconces are period Art Deco. The Lead Glass chandelier in the dining room is original. All wood molding, floors and sash windows are correct and will maintained. Ceiling fans have been installed for the Master bedroom, Front bedroom, and Breakfast nook. The original ceiling glass Art Deco fixtures can be found in the attic. The house has all copper plumbing under the house, in the yard and to the city easement. The murals in the bathroom were painted by a well known artist in the southern California area. All glass door knobs are original, as well as any locks and doors. All wall heaters function well and are well maintained. The vented floor heater in the living room is in good working order. Most all the glass in the sash windows are original. (if you look carefully you will see natural waves and flaws that are unique to this vintage glass) The kitchen has hookups for a small stacked washer and dryer. The attic has around 300 square feet of well boarded storage space and can be accessed through the exhaust door for the ceiling fan on the front porch The Attic Fan is functional and in good working order. Please however do not turn on the fan. It is very powerful. Damage to the fan housing in the attic can occur if the fan is turned on without proper procedures. The roof of the house is Slate, and is a lifetime roof. If any damage occurs to any particular slate shingle on the roof, the construction allows for easy replacement of a new slate shingle. A very good supply of extra slate shingles will be found in the attic for repairs. Peer and Beam construction. The house is built on the Austin Chalk Formation of the Cretaceous. There is a 220 outlet in the front bedroom for a larger window unit air conditioner if desired. Both window unit air conditioners are new, and in good working order. The back yard landscaping was accomplished several years ago to complement and extend the Spanish architecture of the house. Access to the work shed is by key. The two very large Live Oak trees in the front yard were planted in the early 40’s and are two of the larger Live Oak trees in the Lakewood area.
