HISTORIC HOUSE SHARE Fully Furnished Private Room in a Pristine Historic House with English Garden (Ignore the automated website tags listing this as an unfurnished apartment. It IS a completely furnished, 3br house for three housemates. The listing here is to be a housemate in one of the light-filled bedrooms.) NEW GROUP HOUSE - 1 Room Remaining Bedroom 1: RENTED - F, Hill staffer, 23 Bedroom 2: RENTED - M, Fed contractor, 22 Bedroom 3: $1,350 - Looking for third housemate for a 3-bedroom house on Capitol Hill, South of H. Parking is typically available in front of the house every night or you can just walk to everything. FULLY FURNISHED HISTORIC HOUSE & GARDEN with FULL SOLAR Bright, Furnished Bedrooms Available in a Beautiful, Historic, 3-Bedroom House with Garden on Capitol Hill South of H Walk to Aldi, Whole Foods, Giant Food, CVS, Starbucks, Union Station Metro, U.S. Capitol AVAILABILITY: Now This is an historic house with a beautiful, walled garden on a quiet block on Capitol Hill, south of H Street. It's an easy walk to both the Capitol and Union Station. It's between one and three blocks to Aldi, Whole Foods, Starbucks, CVS, cafes, bars and pubs. You will get by just fine without a car (it's actually liberating!) The house is fully furnished and equipped, including the three bedrooms. The garden is a designated wildlife habitat. This is perfect for one or more housemates who would enjoy puttering in the garden, refreshing the water in the birdbath, filling the bird feeder, using the garden hose on the plants, or occasionally dropping fish food into the pond. IMPORTANT No smokers and no pets. VIEWING I'm showing the house this weekend, so please reply now! MORE DETAILS HOUSE This charming, historic house is entered through a walled, English garden. Features include energy efficient windows, central heat and air, dishwasher, laundry room with full-sized washer and dryer, 9'+ ceilings, crown molding, marble fireplace (wood-burning), plus a solar array on the roof that has eliminated the electricity bill for this house except for the +/- $22 monthly fee that FPL charges just to have electrical service--and we split this three ways! It is a bonus that the entire side of the house opens into a beautiful, private garden that is a designated wildlife habitat. The garden is peaceful by day with both sun and shade, and magical by night with the garden lights glowing. The garden is already furnished and waiting for you to start enjoying it right away. The walled garden includes: - Several brick patios for dining and sitting, - Pond with waterfall, - Abundance of roses, flowering vines, and perennials, - Bird bath (that gets used!), and - Garden lights and tiki torches that illuminate the garden at night. The garden is a fabulous place to enjoy coffee in the morning, a glass of wine in the evening, or invite a few friends over to cook out and eat dinner under the large, flowering tree full of twinkling lights. UTILITIES We have central heat and air. The utility accounts are electricity (AC), gas (heat), water/sewer, and wifi. A full roof of solar panels was installed in January 2025. Except for one month when the panels had extended snow cover, they have been producing enough electricity to cover all household consumption. This means you can expect a TOTAL electricity bill of a $22 per month year-round. The gas bill runs $19.50 (base charge) except for the months when we'll use heat. The water/sewer/trash removal bill averages $130. The cable is $30. All of these are split three ways. BEDROOMS All bedrooms are flooded with natural light. The bedrooms are furnished with a bed, bedside table, lamp, desk, chair, ceiling fan and window treatments. The common areas are also already furnished, and the kitchen is fully equipped. All you'll need is your linens. NEIGHBORHOOD The street is a charming, one-block, tree-lined street on historic Capitol Hill. This one-block street is six blocks east of Union Station and one block south of vibrant H Street, with EASY and free parking. Anything for rent on this quiet, mews-like block is RARE. Whole Foods, Aldi, Giant Food, CVS, Starbucks, plus myriad shops and cafes are just blocks away, as is anything else you could need. WalkScore = 96 TRANSPORTATION Do you have a car? Parking is so easy that all three housemates can park in front of the house almost every night. Do you not have a car? Live surrounded by convenient public transportation: For those who use the Metro Red line, Union Station is a 12-minute walk or one block to the bus stop for a quick ride down H Street to Union Station. For those who use the Metro Blue/Orange line, Eastern Market is a 20-minute walk, and a bus stop for a direct ride to the Eastern Market station is one block away. This is a terrific location on Capitol Hill. The entire street is only one, mews-like block, and the large garden and walled, outdoor living space are a rare gem among historic rowhouses in all of DC! Maximize your D.C. experience by choosing an historic house, with an amazing garden, on an incredible block within walking distance of anything you could need.
