The sale of this home just closed on Tuesday for $550,000. The Zestimate was $281,411. Do you think that the Zestimate was a little in error? While I appreciate the opportunity that Zillow gave me to list my home, their Zestimates aren't worth anything In the case of a lake front home, and in fact made it more difficult to sell at a fair price. The house for sale is a lakefront home, is unique, and must be seen to be appreciated. It is located in Rush Township, Schuylkill County, on the north shore of Lake Hauto which is adjacent to the Pocono plateau about 40 miles north of the Lehigh Valley. The south shore is undeveloped and will remain that way since it is owned by the community organization. This is a gated community with no public access so it is very private and is never crowded even on holiday weekends. The lake is 2 ½ miles long and has designated ski areas, where skiers and rafts can be pulled by boats up to 20 feet long. The water is clean and the lake has actually been used as a water reservoir by the local community when the regular reservoir ran dry. It is fed by three feeder streams from the Pocono plateau and overflow from a private lake, Lake Greenwood. In addition, the community is served by a public water and sewer system so the lake is never polluted by sewerage as in many other Pocono communities. The community has four beaches which services the homes that are not on the shoreline, an office, two tennis courts, basketball courts, a baseball field, and a community center with a large meeting room and library. The house was designed by an architect, has about 2800 square feet of living space with three bathrooms, four bedrooms, a loft area, a dining room with fireplace, kitchen, living room, a study (which can easily be converted to a fifth bedroom), a utility room with sink, washer and dryer, an oversize garage, and an attic space that can easily be finished to add an additional 200+ feet to the living area. There is also an unfinished basement, large deck areas, a concrete patio, and ample storage space off one of the bedrooms and over the garage. There is even an outdoor shower with hot and cold running water. The home is set in a natural setting with no lawns to cut or maintain. The forty foot pier has ample sunbathing areas and almost 6 feet of water depth at the end of the pier which permits shallow diving. The house is ready to be used for your summer vacation at the lake. Photo1 shows the view of the home from the pier. Photo2 shows the view of the lake from the living room window. Photo3 shows the view of the home from the road. Photo 4 is a view of the lake looking east from a boat dock at the third beach. The remaining photos are of the interior.
