Large, bright and airy (990 square feet), 1 bed/1 bath condo in the beautifully landscaped Whitney Beach complex. The condo sleeps five having a king bed in the master, a pull out queen sofa and a twin bed pull out armchair with memory foam mattress. We have the ground floor unit (of two stories) which affords us the luxury of having two patios. The front, courtyard style patio is a morning sun trap - perfect for breakfast and coffee. A gas barbecue is provided - something that's NOT permitted on ANY non - ground floor unit! The rear patio opens out from new huge hurricane glass sliders which take up the whole of the end of the condo. Sit at the table here and watch dolphins and manatees frolic in the intracoastal only a few feet away. The unit is fully furnished and comes with everything you might want. THE CONDO WAS REMODELED IN 2019!! It features new kitchen cabinets and granite counter tops, stainless steel one bowl sink and pull down, chef style faucet and stainless steel appliances. There are also new fixtures throughout as well as under cabinet and tray ceiling lights in the kitchen and remote controlled color changing mood sequence lights in the tray ceiling. The Bathroom shower is re tiled and has new frameless glass door, 10" rain head shower with handheld wand and smooth pebble floor. There are new cabinets, counter tops, fixtures, lights, faucets, sink and medicine cabinets. ALL the furniture is virtually new as is the 55" TV in the living room, as well as the washer, dryer, microwave and dishwasher. There's also a TV in the master. We have supplied two, 6-speed cruiser bikes for exploring the numerous side roads and lanes on the island. Cycling is made more carefree by the inclusion of a designated cycle path which runs alongside the Gulf of Mexico Drive the whole length of the island. You also have a beach cart equipped with chairs, sun shade and cooler along with two boogie board style surfboards. One of the best things about the unit is that this is where the island narrows. This means we are about 50 yards from the beach which is just across the Gulf of Mexico drive where you'll find the private deeded access to the conservation area where you’ll find the tiki huts, barbecues, tennis and pickle ball courts. A few steps further and your feet are in the sand of beautiful Whitney Beach itself where we have a variety of private beach chairs including chaises loungers. Since there is no public parking nearby, the fabulous white sandy beach tends to be far quieter and feel more exclusive. You are indeed, far from the madding crowd. Your condo is about 35 minutes away from Siesta Key beach - recently voted America's number one beach! In our opinion, Whitney Beach is every bit as beautiful (if not more so) than its more touristy neighbor. On the other side of the condo about 50 yards or so lies the dock and intracoastal. Here you can kayak amongst the mangroves out to the bay, sit peacefully and marvel at the jumping fish, read or just enjoy the tranquility of the private dock area. For the avid fisherman there is even a fish cleaning station on the dock. Secure kayak storage is available at a very reasonable cost. There are also three swimming pools to cool off in on those days when walking the 50 yards to the beach feels like just too much. You are about a 15 minute drive in normal traffic from St. Armand's Circle and all the shopping and restaurants it has to offer. Drive on a further 2-3 minutes and you're on the causeway and the jaw dropping views of the gulf and the vibrant city of Sarasota itself! We loved this island so much that we knew we'd have to somehow do whatever it took to move here. We finally did just that and have been living here permanently since the end of September 2016! If there's a more beautiful place in the United States, we don't know where it is.
