There are nearby performance spaces including The Hill Arts, .2 miles and Merrill Auditorium, .7 miles. It is an easy walk or drive to a large variety of food spots including on Munjoy Hill, nearby Washington Avenue, and in Portland's Old Port; and provides easy access to ferries to nearby islands, downtown and much more. The building is a quiet, non-smoking, 7-unit 1850s brick building with character. It is home to the landlord and to settled, long-term residents in 5 apartments in addition to this listed apartment. A pet cat or dog will be considered.
The tastefully decorated first floor apartment has two small steps up to a private entrance with keypad lock. The bedroom and living room have 9+ foot ceilings, original hardwood floors, and room-darkening curtains. The bedroom has a comfy queen-size memory foam mattress on a sturdy platform. (Upon request the mattress can be supplemented with a queen-sized 7 inch incline wedge foam support riser for more healthful sleep.) The full-sized, eat-in kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee-maker, and a full complement of flatware, plates, glasses, cookware and utensils. A bright bathroom features period fixtures, including a clawfoot tub with shower. The living room includes a couch and big screen SmartTV. Wifi and other utilities are included. Tenant needs to access their own streaming services for content. The apartment has access to a shared back yard with perennial gardens and a small sitting area.
Of note: the apartment can be outfitted with a window air conditioner unit, but it does not have central air. While the unit is fully furnished in most ways, the apartment does not have a dishwasher, clothes washer or clothes dryer. There is a laundromat approximately 3 blocks away in the neighborhood commercial center. No off-street parking is provided; on-street parking is available in front of the building and on adjacent neighborhood streets, subject to applicable City regulations.
A $2,000 security deposit, good landlord references, positive tenant screening through TransUnion Smart Move or similar, and full execution of a lease and mandatory Portland landlord/tenant disclosures are all required.
Lease term is a minimum of 6 months, up to a maximum of 11 months. There is no smoking anywhere on the property. Pet policy is negotiable, depending upon the specific pet and availability of pet references. Good prior landlord references required. The security deposit is equal to one month's rent. A written lease and mandatory Portland lease disclosures are required. Tenant screening will be required through a national screening service.
