The home was built c. 1833 as the carriage house for the white house on the corner of Leitch and E. Genesee. It is approximately 740 sq. ft. on each floor, totaling approximately 1,480 sq. ft. total. When I bought it, the basement was finished, very poorly, and I have brought it down to the studs and original foundation. We currently use the basement for storage/laundry. The basement stays dry and has very tall ceilings (~13’ tall) and walks out to the backyard. The upstairs is finished and has a full kitchen, full bath, living room, and bedroom with two closets. I have made quite a few improvements to the property. When I bought it, you could barely walk from the front of the property to the backyard due to a steep slope. I removed many of the trees and graded the property to allow access to the backyard, anticipating the need for construction. On the back of the property, which borders the church, I put in a row of arborvitae trees and a Redi-Rock retaining wall that steps up the hill. It really opened up the property and made room for a potential garage/addition. My wife and I bought the property about four years ago. It was a good starter home for us and we have been exploring options to renovate the home and possibly build an addition. Adding an addition and garage is a little outside of our budget at this time and we purchased a larger home around the corner on Academy to start a family. We really love the house and property. You can’t ask for a better street or location in the village. The schools are at the top of the street and the lake is a stones throw away. The house actually has some pretty views of the lake. The home itself needs work but it has great potential. We did have drawings put together by Bob Eggleston, a local architect, for renovation and addition concepts.
