One line emails such as "is it still available?" will be deleted. I own a sweet little three bedroom house, just a mile from campus, and four blocks from downtown urbana. There are two bedrooms downstairs, with a separate apartment upstairs, accessible by an outdoor staircase and private entrance. A tenant lives upstairs, and you may seem them from time to time, doing laundry or using the outdoor spaces. The room for rent is the front bedroom, downstairs. The downstairs is shared with a retired theatre artist. You have shared access to the bathroom, living room, kitchen and laundry room. There is also a screened porch and back deck available for your use. There is free parking across the street, and often the driveway is available. The house is also an excellent walking and biking location. We're looking for someone that will love and appreciate this space, and treat it with care. You won't be renting from a rental agency, or living in a brand new building. This is a home, owned by real people. We are socialists, so liberal/left wing people are strongly preferred. Artists and intellectuals are welcome; people who party often and/or drink to excess are not welcome to apply. The space is available to rent for the 2026/27 school year, starting September 1st 2026. Asking $750 per month, plus utilities (fiber internet, electric & gas, garbage, water/sewer etc.) Utilities average between $150-250 per month (heat in the winter increases the gas/electric bill considerably). The lease can include all utilities, at $900 per month. A flat fee of $150 is required monthly, which covers all utilities and any maintenance or repairs. Therefore, the total rent would be $900 per month, everything included.
