ECONOMY: Clay County's economy is based upon a combination of dairy-based agribusiness, a flourishing retail and services trade, and a growing number of light manufacturing industries. Prospects for accelerated growth of the several industrial parks are bright, while retail/service establishments blossom to serve the increasing population.TRANSPORTATION & ROADS: The northern portion of the County borders on I-295. Four-landed U.S 17 extends north and south along the eastern boundary and four-landed U.S. 301 along its western boundary. The county has a good internal network of state highways.RAIL: The Seaboard Coastline railroad has two lines running north and south through the County. The Southern railroad serves the Keystone Heights area. Amtrak serves the area as well.AIRLINES: The Jacksonville International Airport is from 30 minutes to about one hour from various parts of the County. Since I-295 leads directly to the airport and since it is adjacent to the County, travel time is greatly reduced compared to pre-I-295 travel. Private aircraft facilities are available at Keystone Heights and from two general service airfields in south Jacksonville.ACCESS: Graded stabilized roads are completed to all lots. Purchasers must provide for their water supply by the installation of individual wells and sewage disposal by septic tank. All block corners are monumented for identification of parcel and street markers are provided at block corners.UTILITIES: Electric service is furnished by Florida Power & Light Co.CHURCHES: Clay County is the home of some seventy separate houses of worship representing twenty different denominations.EDUCATION: Clay County has an excellent school system. It rates in the top ten systems of the state.
