The original house was remodeled in the 1850's. It features a tiered portico and verandahs, supported by 64 Doric order columns. A kitchen addition was attached to the house about 1935. Also on the property are the contributing horse stables, and old stone spring, a brick basin and granite gate posts. There is water frontage to the cool springs pond on the east side of the property. Interior features include paneled wainscoting, plaster cornice molding a curving stair, Egyptian-influenced doors and original windows with crossettes, and ceiling medallions. The view from the front through the columns to the front yard is breathtaking. There are 6 bedrooms and 5 baths in the home on the second floor. There are 10 fireplaces throughout the home not including 5 fireplaces on the basement level. The entry foyer leads your eyes to the winding stair case with large ballroom/dining to the left and a formal living room to the right. The large kitchen and butler pantry is sized to entertain. Though this home is needing lots of updates, this is a very impressive historic landmark to be enjoyed for years to come.
