    What's special

With its spacious 8-foot ceiling height, abundant windows, and gourmet kitchen, this is one of the most livable and cozy basement apartments in Seattle. My dad and I built it, a legal, certified MIL, to maximize the comfort and light, adding lots of wood accents and built-in features. It's compact but extremely efficient, like a European apartment. Wood shelves are recessed into walls in the entry and bedroom. There's a full closet in the bedroom with louvered wood doors. The living room closet can double as a desk and work cubicle. A large wing of the kitchen counter serves as a dining table, with stools. The well-lit bathroom has a new tile shower and floor. Recessed LED light fixtures are the antidote to Seattle winters. Extra insulation between floors minimizes sound transmission. We tried to think of everything to make this a great place to live. The apartment is tucked within a vintage Craftsman-style house, the main floor of which has two bedrooms, in a quiet Crown Hill neighborhood, 3 blocks from bus lines. The main floor tenants are a quiet, professional young couple from Europe. Close to shopping, community center. Great neighbors. Separate garage in back is dedicated to storage (split 50/50 between upstairs/downstairs tenants) and is great for bikes, skis, fishing rods, tools, barbeques, etc. A solid work bench, storage cupboards, and good lighting allow you to work on projects like tuning skis, maintaining bikes, or building furniture, whatever your pleasure. You walk down a short stairway to enter the basement. A washer and dryer are on the left (shared by upstairs and downstairs folks), and the separate entrance to the apartment is on the right. I'm the second owner of this well-maintained 1928 home, and want to keep it looking good. My wife and I live 10 blocks away, so we're easily accessible for maintenance and repairs. The landscaping has loads of lovely shrubs and trees, plus an area for raising vegies, so it would be a bonus if you like to garden. You also have a small shaded courtyard to set up a barbeque or entertain friends. The apartment is ideal for one or two people who don't smoke. Rent includes high-speed wifi. Other utilities are divided between the upstairs and downstairs (60/40), and average about $120 per month for the lower unit. One-year lease, last month's rent required, plus a $1,500 damage deposit. Available now. Email or text me (Scott/owner) to find out more and arrange a showing. Owner pays for wi-fi. Renter pays 40 percent of household utilities (upstairs unit pays the rest). $1000 deposit serves to hold apartment for you until you move in; first and last month's rent due on signing lease, plus test of security deposit ($1900 total). No smoking or pets. Parking on street (always available. One year lease.
